Dan Root for the most part turns wooden vessels of many sizes and shapes. He uses wood from all over the world. He is willing to turn almost anything from whatever wood one desires, if the wood is available. On this web site you can view several of the pieces he has made. Also you can view the different woods he has used. If you have a creative idea or would just like a particular piece made from a certain wood he is willing to do that.
Most of Dan’s pieces he turns on a wood lathe, after he cuts and glues several pieces together. This is called segmented turning. This is how he gets different designs and patterns within a piece. Once ready he will place the piece on the lathe. There he will shape the piece into a bowl or other vessel.
